Taking the stage in the Tony press room, Promises, Promises star Katie Finneran seemed amazed at the mass of reporters staring up at her. "I feel like I'm the Irish delegate from the U.N.," she exclaimed. Finneran, who appears onstage as barfly Marge Macdougal for only about ten minutes at the top of the second act, confessed that she often catches the rest of the performance from an odd location—her dressing room bathroom! "I have a toilet connected to the first box on the left side of the house," she said. "I can actually go into my toilet, open the trap door and I'm in the house. I just open a curtain and can watch the show from my toilet. I call it 'the view from the loo.'" Because her nutty character wears an owl coat, the actress spent her first weeks of rehearsals scouring the Internet researching owl calls. She finally settled on imitating the Western Screeching Owl. When asked to give the press a sample call, Finneran burst into some wild owl eeking for nearly a minute, to much applause. "I believe that just got me a Tony," she laughed. The bubbly star won't be celebrating her big win as drunken Marge might, however: "I'm not a big drinker," she said. "People usually think I'm drunk anyway because I'm giddy and silly. I will just be so happy to take off all my clothes and put on my pajamas and sit on the couch with my fiance [Darren Goldstein] and talk about this evening."
